The Great Blog Revival of 2025
I write for a living.
I’ve been pretty successful at it too.
But I had one of those hard realizations a few months ago: Most of my work writing is SEO-optimized, goes through multiple stakeholder meetings and approval rounds, and is generally the exact opposite of anything you’d think of as spontaneous.
And let’s just forget about writing anything for fun. Haven’t done that in a while.
Here’s the thing: I grew up in another incarnation of the internet. I’m a child of Geocities and Livejournal and Blogspot and Myspace and AOL Messenger. I remember setting up my first Tripod page and mucking around with a grainy webcam that (oh damn!) saved directly to JPG instead of needing to scan your pictures first!
Absolute madness.
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to start writing again for fun. Not about work. Not where I’m researching SEO keywords. Not where I’m thinking about anchor pages and hub content and how to turn ebooks into multiple deliverables and figuring out the perfect headline and hero image and description for social sharing.
So, I thought I’d do something I haven’t done in a while: write about things that aren’t for work. Revolutionary, I know.
Writing actual articles and stories and long explorations of topics and whatever the hell I want. More importantly, doing it in a format where I can write without worrying about social media character limits or newsletter subscription management.
In other words: A blog.
I hope you enjoy it.
